N N Pasupathy (Retd) is Director Technical of VQI, he has
a wide experience in IT field both during his service in
the Indian Army of 30 years as well as after his retirement
in the Corporate Sector. A graduate of Mechanical engineering
from Madras University in 1969, he has obtained Post Graduate
Diploma in Electronic Data Processing and Systems, in Electronics
(Communication and Radio Engineering) as well as Business
Management from Military Colleges of Instructions. He has
been in the IT field for the past 25 years having hands
on experience in Main Frame, Mini and Client-Server Systems.
At VQI, he leads a team of software professionals involved
in software design, development, implementation and maintenance
of one of the biggest and renowned Benefit Administrators
of US handling more than 250,000 participating employees
(1,250,000 eligibles).
He
has to his credit development of one of the biggest HR Management
System in the Indian Army for the Corps of Electrical and
Mechanical Engineers during 87-89. He later converted this
legacy system to RDBMS in 96-97. The system handles manpower
planning, training, placement, promotion, discipline, and
maintenance of personal and family records of more than
100,000 serving personnel. Almost 500,000 records are of
retired personnel are kept in data warehouse. He was involved
in the design and development of a large number of systems
in the Army pertaining to Training, Administration, Logistics,
and Engineering Support to Army Equipment. In 1982, he developed
a system for reliability analysis of Armored Fighting Vehicles
to arrive at fault frequency, repair effort, condition monitoring,
MTBF, to determine planned withdrawal for minor and major
overhaul. In 1991, he developed a system for analysis of
terrorists' information for an Army Division engaged in
Counter Insurgency Operations.
