Brig
(Dr) V Harsha Vardhan Rao (Retd) has a wide experience in
medical field in various capacities as Medical Officer,
Hospital administrator, Medical Advisor in Indian Embassies
abroad, as Medical and Health administrator of an Operational
Army Corps of more than 1,20,000 military personnel. A graduate
of All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi of
1969, he is a member of National Academy of Medical Sciences
New Delhi and a holds a postgraduate diploma in Hospital
Administration. He has been actively involved in health
care administration of serving and retired Army Personnel
and their dependents and instrumental in evolving the system
of the new health care facilities and accounting procedures
for the Army. He has been directly involved in establishing
and supervising the medical care through poly clinics to
Army Personnel and their dependents in more than seven locations
in the states of Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu
and Kashmir providing medical cover to more than 300,000
eligibles. He has established and enhanced children hospital
in Afghanistan on behalf the Govt. of India that included
initial planning to its completion and training and handing
over to the Govt. of Afghanistan. He has been a member of
the Indian Diplomatic mission in Islamabad Pakistan. During
his service in the Army he was also involved in addition
to his routine duties in relief medical operation after
major natural disasters like floods, earthquakes etc. He
is well versed in IT and its role in health care administration.
